Handmade in Jingdezhen from Zhongbaini clay (中白泥), this gaiwan is individually wood fired, allowing ash, flame and kiln atmosphere to build its surface naturally.
The exterior moves through soft celadon, cream, toasted ochre and smoky brown, with fine crackling and firing marks spreading irregularly across the lid and body. Inside, warmer ash tones gather toward the centre around a striking pool of moss-green crystalline glaze — a small detail revealed when the lid is lifted.
Its low, rounded profile feels grounded and compact in the hand, while the wide rim gives good control when pouring. A versatile piece for gongfu brewing, particularly suited to oolong, white tea, black tea and pu’er.
Each gaiwan is handmade and individually wood fired, so variations in ash deposits, glaze, colour and texture are unique to the piece.
