Handmade by Zhang Yongshun (章永顺)
A pear-shaped teapot — 梨形 — with a rounded belly, short spout, C-handle and a small ball finial. The form sits steady on the table and leaves room for leaves to open in short gongfu infusions.
This piece is Chaozhou zhuni (朱泥), named on the studio certificate — a fine reddish clay with a soft matte surface. Chaozhou walls run thinner than denser Yixing ware, so heat moves quickly: a good partner for aromatic teas such as Phoenix Dancong. Made in the Renyin year (壬寅, 2022).
Zhang Yongshun works in Chaozhou on handmade Gongfu teapots. He has practised the craft for decades and is recognised locally as an inheritor of Chaozhou Gongfu teapot-making — the same hands behind our blade-cut hongni pot.
