A Jian Piao (简瓢) teapot crafted from Ben Shan Lü Ni (本山绿泥), holding approximately 150ml.
The Jian Piao shape strips away ornament and leaves only the essentials: a gently flattened body, flowing shoulders, and a profile that feels balanced from every angle. It is a shape that rewards repeated use — understated at first glance, increasingly satisfying over time.
Made from Ben Shan Lü Ni, the clay carries a warm golden-olive tone with subtle mineral speckling throughout. The relatively low, broad body gives leaves ample room to unfurl while encouraging a smooth, even extraction.
Particularly suited to Dancong, Wuyi oolong, roasted Tie Guan Yin, aged white tea, and mature sheng pu'er. The clay softens sharper edges while preserving fragrance and texture.
What drew us to this piece is the proportion. The low stance, elegant lid line, and refined handle create a teapot that feels calm and deliberate without trying too hard.
A classic daily brewer for those who appreciate quiet details.
