Xishi (西施) teapot crafted from Bai Yu Duan Ni (白玉段泥), holding approximately 150ml.
Named after one of China's legendary beauties, the Xi Shi shape is beloved for its simple proportions: a perfectly rounded body, short spout, and elegant circular handle. Nothing feels forced. Every curve exists for balance.
The pale ivory tone of Bai Yu Duan Ni gives this pot a particularly refined presence. Fine mineral speckling scattered throughout the clay recalls natural stone, while the light colour allows subtle changes from use to develop over time.
At 150ml, it sits in a sweet spot for solo sessions or sharing with one or two friends. The rounded body provides excellent space for leaves to unfurl, making it especially suitable for Dancong, Taiwanese high mountain oolong, lightly roasted Tie Guan Yin, aged white tea, and fragrant yancha.
What stands out is its restraint. No carving, no decoration, no attempt to impress beyond good clay and a timeless shape.
A pot for those who appreciate the quiet side of Yixing.
